Excellent Restatement of Napoleon Hill's Work on Success

The Twelve Universal Laws of Success is not explicitly derived from Napoleon Hill's popular works . . . but it is clearly an intellectual heir of that work. If you liked Mr. Hill's work, you will probably enjoy this book very much. If you do not know Mr. Hill's work, you could do worse than to begin with this book instead of Mr. Hill's books.
Although almost everyone admires Napoleon Hill's work on the requirements for being successful, most will agree that he was always somewhat opaque in describing what he had learned. His later books are clearer, but not crystal clear. For that reason, I'm always pleased when someone connects the dots better on the same subject. The Twelve Universal Laws of Success is such a book. I am very glad I read it. Mr. Herbert Harris does quite a remarkable job of combining the perspectives of physical science, psychology and different religions to provide a very clear view of how to lead a life directed towards worthy goals that you achieve. Those who are Christians will find strength in his use of many Biblical quotations.
As I read the twelve laws, I sometimes felt like I was being taken on a tour around a statue. By seeing more perspectives, I could understand the holism of the statue much better . . . or in this case, what is required for success. So don't be surprised at what will seem like a little redundancy in the rules. Some of them are really axioms of other rules . . . but ones that you might not have figured out on your own. For example, the law of change is an axiom of the law of thought.
The material is well organized. The book begins with much helpful background information, including how to study any new subject or book. Now, that's getting down to brass tacks! Each law then has its own chapter, and you will find chapter summaries and study guides at the end of each. If you apply yourself to the study guides, you benefit from the book will be enormous. That's one of the many improvements over Napoleon Hill in the book.
I also liked the way that Mr. Harris was careful to explain what his words and concepts mean. Success is "the continuous realization of the outcomes or results you desire." He also carefully describes the conscious, subconscious and superconscious minds.
The laws themselves are ones that most people will recognize from their own experiences and religious studies. Here are a few examples of the laws summarized (see pages 181-183 for the whole list):
The Universal Law of Thought ("You become what you think about most of the time.")
The Universal Law of Change ("You change your life by changing your thinking.")
The Universal Law of Relationships ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.").
I especially liked his advice for how to end your day. Ask yourself, "Did I do everything I could do today to make tomorrow the way I want it to be?" He encourages you to live each day so that you can earnestly answer, "Yes, I did everything I could, with all I had to do it with!"
Mr. Herbert suggests that this book will be of most help to those who are having fairly good results in their own lives . . . but need to fine-tune what they are doing. He also suggests the book for those who are just starting out on their own as young adults. Although he does not mention it, I also think this book could be a life saver for those whose lives have crashed and burned in some fundamental way . . . and want to clean up their act.
As I finished the book, I was again reminded of the value of setting and pursuing worthwhile goals for ourselves. We can each do great things . . . if only we focus on doing so!

The Blueprint for Success (100 stars)

This book is absolutely wonderful. When I purchased it, I wanted to read it immediately as I was so impressed by the content. I am almost finished and plan on rereading it immediately doing the questions and exercises therein. I am an avid reader and have read numerous books on success, personal development, and etc. Personlly, I think this book is better than 'Think and Grow Rich.' It breaks everything down so simplistically that all you have to do is just follow the steps. I don't see how anyone can go wrong if they just simply follow the steps. Everyone aspiring to take their lives to the next level spiritually and professionally should read this book. It's the best book that I've ever read, and the spiritual marriage and relevance between the universal laws and biblical scripture is just phenomenally done. I just love this book and am using my current copy as a workbook and as my personal success handbook. I plan on purchasing others just to have on hand. I also want to purchase one for my best friend as he and I are on the same level of consciousness. This book is just truly that wonderful and amazing as it surpasses and outranks all others.

About the Author
William J. Dally is the Willard R. and Inez Kerr Bell Professor of Engineering at Stanford University and Chief Scientist at NVIDIA Corporation. He and his group have developed system architecture, network architecture, signaling, routing and synchronization technology that can be found in most large parallel computers today. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the ACM and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has received numerous honors including the ACM Eckert-Mauchly Award, the IEEE Seymour Cray Award and the ACM Maurice Wilkes Award.

R. Curtis Harting is a Software Engineer at Google and holds a PhD from Stanford University. He graduated with honors in 2007 from Duke University with a BSE, majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science. He received his MS in 2009 from Stanford University.

Tor M. Aamodt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Alongside his graduate students, he developed the GPGPU-Sim simulator. Three of his papers related to the architecture of general purpose GPUs have been selected as 'Top Picks' by IEEE Micro Magazine and one as a 'Research Highlight' by Communications of the ACM magazine. He was a Visiting Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University during his 2012-2013 sabbatical, and from 2004 to 2006 he worked at NVIDIA on the memory system architecture ('framebuffer') of the GeForce 8 Series GPU.

The perfect book for getting started with ESP8266, nodemcu, and lua

I've been very curious about the ESP8266, and I started looking at it over Thanksgiving week. I scoured the internet for information on getting started, but the content is all over the place in bits and pieces and in some cases out-of-date. I took a gamble on this book, and it was exactly what I needed to get started with EsP8266, nodemcu, and lua with a minimal amount of fuss. The explanations were thorough enough, and the example code helps you be productive faster. If you are getting started with ESP8266, I would strongly recommend this book.

I covers everything you need to know to get you started even if you don’t have a any prior experience in electronics or low-level programming (firmware, C/C++ etc.). It teaches you a bit about the chip and modules equipped with it, gives you a Lua primer and contains lots of helpful examples.

Great Beginner’s Guide

Having purchased a couple beginner’s guides to accompany a new keyboard, this was by far the easiest to follow and understand – the others I found a bit daunting for a complete beginner like myself. Nice, clear photos and diagrams, a good pace as I worked through the book, and very clear explanations about all the functions of my keyboard and how to incorporate the various rhythms and chords as I played. Highly recommended.

How To Play Keyboard book

Great book - simple to follow, easy to understand and got me started with my keyboard quickly and easily. It really is much easier to master than I thought, and I'd recommend this book for any beginner.

A Must for Beginners

Loved this book....it helped me to start playing some music before taking piano lessons. I have now taken several weeks of lessons and still look back at this book for a refresher course.
