The Atmosphere of Heaven

In this book titled "Atmosphere", Joshua Mills teaches us how we could carry the atmosphere of heaven wherever we go. He explains how to create an atmosphere of glory from the supernatural realm, which is available to every Holy Spirit filled believer.

He teaches us the importance of the atmosphere that we create and how we could create the right or wrong atmosphere. It is a relationship with Jesus that carries His presence rather than getting into religious rituals because everything the glory touches, it changes. He also explains some things that could be hindrances and what to avoid. We have to be careful not to create a bad atmosphere as well as a holy atmosphere because the negativity around some people is tangible. You could also feel anger in people because they are carrying anger or unforgiveness on the inside, and therefore they release it.

It is so important to guard the atmosphere around us. We are called to change the atmosphere wherever we go as we carry the presence of the Holy Spirit.This is why when we play worship music it ushers in the presence of God. We are created spirit, soul and body and we have to align ourselves not to go by what we see or feel in the natural. He teaches how our senses are also involved in our atmosphere and therefore our physical senses will react to the physical atmosphere that we are in. Color, light and sound also affect our moods and emotions.

I recommend this book because I have been in Joshua's meetings and experienced the atmosphere of Glory that he carries as he ministers. He cultivated a personal relationship with Jesus that is obvious, and therefore carries the atmosphere of heaven. In this book he teaches us to do the same.

After reading all the other reviews of this book I was wondering if I had read the wrong book. I'm not sure why they other reviewers gave a 5-star rating other than maybe they follow Joshua Mill's ministry and enjoy all his teachings. I was expecting a book on worship that would delve into the depths of how to bring down the Presence and Power of the Lord. While he had some good points and practical tips, I felt it was a rather superficial presentation of this deep topic of worship and God's presence. Atmosphere does play a significant part in "how people receive from the presence of God's glory" and there were some valid points in this 92-page book. In Chapter One: 20 Facts About Your Atmosphere - I couldn't reconcile the ending verses he had to make his points as they seemed really out of context. He deals with colors, aromas, sounds, organization and other aspects that could influence one's atmosphere. A couple of his last chapters, that I won't mention by name, didn't even seem to fit into the overall theme of the book. While I did some underlining and there were a handful of good quotes from the author, the book left me with more questions than answers. The subtitle of the book is, "Creating a Realm for Miracles and Success!" but I wanted more explanation of an atmosphere to encountering God's Presence. I am a minister who has also written a book on worship and I wanted Mill's book to add to and accentuate the points and progression on how to "draw near to God and He will draw near to you" which it didn't. I could be wrong and not in tune with his atmosphere that he was presenting, but that is my review. It's still worth a read for those beginning the worship process.

Glory

The end if 2014 was a very dry time for me. I set apart a time to go through Joshua's school IGI and 2015 has been awesome. I read Golden Glory by Ruth Ward Heflin and then this book because something has stirred in me about the Glory Realm. I have has gold and various types of dust appearing on my hands and around the house in my car etc... Read this book if you want a deeper revelation on the Glory and walking in the Glory Realm. I also recommend Joshua's DVD school. Just set aside a weekend to go through it and watch what happens.

Dosa, a geriatrician with a strong aversion to cats, tells the endearing story of Oscar the cat, the aloof resident at a nursing home who only spends time with people who are about to die. A pretty surface story

Writing very cliche-ridden. But the author's a doctor not a writer. Yet writing does matter. Somehow it all had the feeling of a Hallmark card about dementia. Great writing conveys experience in a way that not only deepens our understanding, but also shocks us with revealing a truth that has been hidden or seemingly impossible to label. Given the subject matter, dementia, loss of self before death, loss of freedom, loss of a loved one's soul while their body is still before us, I felt this book skimmed along a sunny surface, ignoring the darkness below. Think one could get the same amount of insight this book provides by watching one of those 5 min "on the road" segments on the evening news.

As for Oscar; I kind of wondered if someone had objectively recorded every minute of the cat's activity, would there not have been just as much time with patients who didn't die? Perhaps that time just wasn't noticed or commented on because it wasn't part of the charming story. And even if the cat spent more time in the rooms of dying patients, there are a lot of more rational explanations other than the anthropomorphic one that the cat was "comforting" humans. But it makes a pretty, shallow story.

Helpful and compassionate

I have a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease.

I have read many clinical books on the disease in this past year. It's a lot to take in when this diagnosis is made. This person whom I've loved, cared about and who has been an important part of my life, is fading away. It can be a helpless feeling.

Dr. Dosa, takes a unique approach to his description of both disease and the impact on family and caregivers alike. This was written in the early part of his career and shares his feelings and thoughts on patient care in the skilled nursing facility where he practices.

This candid book is told in clinical anecdotes, as well as the story of Oscar, the cat.

This is a far gentler approach than many of the AD books I've read. It's very real, yet passionate about treating patients with dignity and respect. These last two get more difficult as the disease progresses.

Animals have a real soothing effect on AD patients. My little Maltese has the ability to sense who, in a room of ten people, needs her most. She will then cuddle up to them. I've seen how well it calms my own loved one with AD. I guess Charlie Brown was right...happiness IS a warm puppy.

This book handles the concept of skilled nursing facility as a place for a loved one with A.D. Certainly, we've come a long way in our nursing care for patients in the last stages of their lives.

Dr. Dosa also mentions skilled nursing at home. Having researched this option for my loved one, I know that the time to look into it is BEFORE a fall or illness that substantially weakens a loved one.

How do you find the right skilled nursing facility or home care? Ask your family doctor or primary care practitioner. They are required to see their patients on a regular basis. Our own family doctor recommended the service I plan to use for my loved one. He used the same for his own mother.

One last thought...there is a story of a woman who had a very close relationship with her loved one. Her approach is similar to what I've embraced. She saw her time with her loved one as a gift. Time IS a precious commodity. As hour after hour tumbles into days, months and years, we remember the people in our lives, not the things.

Learning about Oscar and taking care of family with Alzheimer's

A very nice book about an amazing cat. The author is a gerontologist who heard d about the unusual activities of one of the home's cats whenever someone was about to die. He questioned a number of the family members who, like Oscar the cat, were present at the death of their loved ones, or who were unable to be there but were happy to know that Oscar was there, keeping watch over their loved ones until the coroner left. During his investigation of the cat, the doctor learned a great deal about how people learn to care for their loved ones and how they cope with the emotional losses, and the physical losses as well. As an adult with a mother with Alzheimer's, the book was helpful, heart breaking at times, and entertaining. And, yes, at the end, I also prefer the cat, not the ICU.

Mr. Wolfrey's style is clearly indebted to the late Derrida. I have tried to finish this book on several different occasions, and each time I take it up, I am repulsed by Wolfrey's intentional obscurantism.

First published in 1984, and republished twice since then, Falklands Commando was one of the first eye-witness accounts of combat operations during the Falklands War, and indeed one of the first books on Special Forces missions.

Captain Hugh McManners went in on the first British Special Forces combat mission to land on East Falkland, in preparation for the Royal Navy landings on the Islands. His mission was to prevent an Argentine heavy weapons company guarding the entrance to the Task Force’s intended harbour area from attacking the ships.

The gripping narrative is Hugh’s first-hand account of this most famous of modern British military operations. His position made him part of the planning of this operation as well as one of the field operators – a unique perspective. Hugh describes, with perception and an often a wry sense of humour, life in his five-man Special Forces team, fighting with the Special Boat Squadron.

After near-disastrous small boat ops in heavy seas, gruelling long clearance reconnaissance missions, and tense night helicopter insertions, Hugh’s team finish up on their own, concealed while surrounded by enemy troops, twenty kilometres behind enemy lines. From this very exposed position, they carry out night-firing missions using naval gunships, to destroy Argentine artillery guns, missiles and radars. These targets must be destroyed before the enemy can use them to sink ships, or stop the British Commandos and Paras as they consolidate in the mountains ready for the final set-piece battle.

Then, as the British artillery comes within range, McManners’ team also fire by day. This proves critical, as the Paras and Commandos are heavily shelled while fighting their way into the Argentines’ defensive ring of steel.

This new ebook edition includes a new 2014 introduction, plus the Introductions from each of the three earlier editions, from 1984, 1987 and 2002. These reveal the failures of the British Ministry of Defence post-Falklands and then in the first Gulf War.

About the Author
Hugh McManners was Sunday Times Defence Correspondent for 5 years and is a television producer and presenter. He was brought up in Tasmania and New South Wales and educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford and Oxford University. He went into the Army in 1972, and joined 148 Commando Observation Battery in 1978. He was mentioned in despatches for his service in the Falklands War.

A solid three stars: could have been four but for the personal ramblings of a clearly disaffected person.

This would be a four star book but for the rant at the beginning of the book in which the author slams the MoD over and over. He might have some valid points, but it just comes across as bitter and immature, when the book itself is witty and sometimes enthralling. I'd recommend skipping the pre amble and go to the first chapter. A decent book with some good humour, interspersed - as with any war - with a good deal of tragedy. It does make you wonder reading this book that if the Argentine army had been half as courageous and well trained as their Air Force what the outcome might have been.
I knew little about the role of a military soldiers' role as a forward observation operative, but this portrays it well for the lay person.
Worth a read once you get past the whinging.
One thing the author does do well is convey the importance of supporting soldiers who have been through a traumatic time and the need for proper communications, it's just a shame this is a bit lost at the beginning.

"Falklands Commando" is Captain Hugh McManners' well-written memoire of his service as a commando forward observer with the British Army in the short, fiercely contested 1982 war with Argentina over the remote Falkland Islands.

The sudden Argentine invasion of the Falklands took Britain by surprise. McManners captures the controlled chaos of the departure of an expeditionary force to the South Atlantic to retake the islands. At sea, his small party had limited opportunities to train and prepare aboard over-crowded ships. Once off the Falklands, horrendous weather, difficult terrain, and the Argentine military itself created additional challenges to getting ashore and coming to grips with the enemy.

With more than a little understated humor and much fascinating personal detail, McManners describes the operations ashore, as his team leap-frogged across the islands, calling in naval gunfire in support of special operations forces. His narrative columinates with the British Army in command of the heights above Port Stanley and the Argentine military hopelessly trapped.

The Falkslands War is a long way back in the rear view mirror, but "Falklands Commando" has plenty to offer in the way of lessons learned for war on an austere budget in a remote location. It is highly recommended to students of expeditionary warfare.
